Philosophy

The Misty Wagon Philosophy centers around stimulating children’s wonder. We do this by asking provocative questions,  encouraging the testing out of ideas and keeping our environment engaging.  Teachers follow the children’s wonderings and support them in uncovering their authentic interests and modes of expression while cultivating values of creativity, community-mindedness and critical thinking.  We believe that children benefit from a program that melds progressive-minded approaches such as Reggio Emilia, Social Constructivist, Montessori and RIE philosophies together, and centers on their play and evolving individual and communal needs. We use our knowledge and experience with the progressive-minded educational approaches to support our work with the children. Misty Wagon is a place for a child to explore and step into the many facets of their being. Parents follow along with the important work of the children through documentation and reflections published by our staff daily.
